Being over 50 years of age is no barrier to divorce and, in fact, the divorce rate for the over 50 crowd has doubled since the 1990s. This brings some rather big adjustments — and surprises — for women who have always let their husband shoulder the burden of managing their finances. Despite all the talk of gender equality, it seems most married women, regardless of their age or generation, either prefer or are at least okay with their husband making their important financial decisions.
